Tutor / Mentor for Young Learner (Computing & Confidence Building)

Hours: Starting gradually, building up to around 15 hours per week
Rate: £30 - £35
Contract: Part-time / Flexible
We are looking for a patient, understanding and engaging Tutor / Learning Mentor to work one-to-one with a learner with additional learning needs. The learner enjoys computing and technology and would benefit from gentle, structured support to help build confidence, develop learning skills, and engage positively in education.
About the Role:
- Provide one-to-one tuition and mentoring in computing and related subjects.
- Support the learner's confidence, motivation and communication skills.
- Start with shorter sessions to help the learner settle and build trust, gradually increasing to around 15 hours per week.
- Plan engaging, practical activities tailored to the learner's interests and ability level.
- Liaise with parents/carers and the education coordinator to monitor progress and adjust goals.
About You:
- Experience working with young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), ideally including autism or social communication needs.
- Calm, consistent, and empathetic approach — able to build rapport with a shy or anxious learner.
- Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Background in computing, ICT, or a related area preferred but not essential.
- Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or youth work experience desirable.
