SEN Tutor Needed ASAP – Non-Verbal Year 11 Student

I am looking for a calm, experienced SEN tutor to work 1:1 with a Year 11 male student in the SW2 (South London) area. The student is non-verbal and has autism, epilepsy and learning difficulties. He generally presents as calm, enjoys sensory activities and can be fidgety with some stimming and occasional singing.

The focus of the sessions will be developing social and communication skills, self-care skills, the ability to follow simple instructions and building his attention and engagement over time. This is home-based support in addition to his full-time specialist school placement.

Sessions will take place on Fridays, for a 1–2 hour block sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The hourly rate for this role is £30 per hour.

The family are looking for someone with experience working with non-verbal autistic young people, who is patient, regulated and clear with boundaries. A gentle, respectful, non-physical approach is essential.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience preferred)
  • Valid Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
  • Basic safeguarding training (we can direct you to a short online course)
  • Right to work in the UK
