Please note this position is a 6 month contract position.

This is a very exciting position for a Paralegal to join a top US law firm located in central London.

My client is a trusted partner to both established market leaders and fast-growing innovators seeking to protect and enforce their most valuable assets domestic and international IP rights spanning patents, trademarks, copyrights, rights of publicity, trade secrets, and related content.

Key tasks

  • Assisting London IP group on a daily basis on ad hoc tasks (e.g. assisting with the provision of a IP UK and EU legal update to a pharma client).
  • Providing support to the London IP Group on research and advice for clients.
  • Carrying out legal research and monitoring of EU cases.
  • Keeping files (internal files, Counsel bundles, client bundles) organised and up to date in paper and electronic format.
  • Keeping the London IP team up to date with developments in IP law and practice in the UK, the EU and the UPC.
  • Liaising and instructing Reproduction team regarding printing and courier of bundles.
  • Filing documents (applications, pleadings) with court, mainly the Royal Courts of Justice.
  • Maintaining a tracker of active IP matters, the IP handbook, and the knowledge and precedent database.
  • Assistance with (i) drafting matter and deal summaries for marketing and directory submissions, (ii) preparation and materials for client pitches and other business development support; (iii) preparation of materials for client seminars and related liaising with marketing; and (iv) preparation of materials for training on IP and general litigation topics.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software Competent at creating and editing pdf documents
  • Proficiency in operating desktop, laptop, and mobile devices as needed to perform the essential functions of the job Experience working in corporate law firm or equivalent would be advantageous
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, with a law degree or relevant legal education.
