Bored of chasing your tail, working for free (most of the time) and having someone up your arse every 2 minutes making sure you're making enough dials?

If you've been running your own 360 desk (and maybe looking after a few people), but you're ready to change things up and help to grow an already profitable (but small) team, this might be worth a read.

At Optima, almost everything we do is retained and partnered. No scrabbling for scraps or competing with ten other agencies for the same job. You'll work exclusively / retained, for guaranteed fees, within manufacturing.

We're after someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do. You already know what good recruitment looks like and back yourself to make sound commercial decisions. You'll own your desk end to end, taking charge of mid-to-senior level appointments, developing business, managing relationships, and shaping the growth of the team over the next few years. Senior appointments are naturally more about soft skills than a technical skillset, so it's not necessarily about finding key words on a Boolean search to tick boxes. Your knack for reading between the lines and being able to recognise what "good" looks like is what's going to set you apart. That, and your ability to build lasting relationships, of course.

If you've managed people or coached others while billing solidly, this role will let you do more of that, with a clear route into leadership once you've made your mark.

Here's what's on the table:

  • A four-day week (Monday to Thursday)
  • ⁠Commission up to 30%, plus quarterly and annual bonus if you're over target (4x base)
  • ⁠Flexible location: we're based in central Rochdale, but you can work hybrid or remote if you'd rather
  • ⁠A fully coded candidate patch (250+ strong) to hit the ground running
  • ⁠Marketing support already in place, or the freedom to flip it if you've got a better way
  • ⁠A desk with real history; you'll be replacing someone who's been here since day one
  • ⁠Full training on how to sell retained search (if needed)
  • ⁠£65k - £70k OTE, more if you trigger your bonuses (obviously)

You'll be replacing someone that's been here since the start so there are some pretty solid foundations for you to come in to, but you'll have full freedom to put your own spin on it all.
