Job Description

Your Mission:

Assystem is seeking a talented Junior Planner or Planner to support one of our key defence clients in delivering a major, high-profile programme of work. This is an exciting client-embedded role, offering the opportunity to work within a Joint Programme Team (JPT) helping to shape programme performance across time, cost, and scope.

Job Description:

You will help develop and maintain the programme's integrated schedule, working closely with project schedulers and programme leaders. Guided by the Programme Integration Scheduler / Functional Lead, you'll support accurate reporting, enabling the programme to remain on track and aligned with strategic and affordability requirements.

You will report to the Programme Controls & Integration Manager, while also being matrix-managed by the Programme Integration Scheduler and collaborating with Programme Leadership, the PMO, and Delivery Agents.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Maintenance

  • Support the Programme Integration Scheduler in building and maintaining the integrated delivery schedule

  • Support P6 schedule updates, engaging with Project Schedulers, Project Managers, and Delivery Agents to gather progress

  • Assist with critical path analysis

  • Manage and report on dependencies and key milestones

Programme Controls & Reporting

  • Support schedule performance analysis, including root cause identification and corrective actions

  • Assist with the development of programme control capabilities and governance

  • Engage with Tranche Planners and Leads to ensure alignment across workstreams

Collaboration & Additional Responsibilities

  • Foster effective communication across the Programme Team and stakeholders

  • Contribute to high-quality reporting for senior leadership

  • Undertake additional duties as directed by Programme Controls & Integration leadership

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience using Primavera P6

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to generate and present reports for senior management

  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with continuous improvement mindset

  • Good understanding of planning, programme methods, and progress monitoring

  • Understanding of risk and opportunity management in relation to planning

  • Awareness of delay/ change initiation and demonstration methods

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience using Power BI
