About The Tutor Train

The Tutor Train is an award-winning tuition company supporting children aged 4–18 across Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northampton, and beyond. Our qualified teachers provide tailored 1-to-1 and small-group tuition in homes, online, and within school settings, helping students thrive academically and emotionally.

We believe every learner deserves to feel confident, capable, and proud of their progress. Our tutors are caring, professional, and passionate about making a real difference.

The Role

We're looking for experienced and compassionate qualified teachers with specialist training in dyslexia and literacy support to join our growing team of tutors. You'll deliver structured, personalised literacy interventions that help learners build confidence, strengthen core reading and writing skills, and develop strategies for long-term progress.

Tuition includes a mix of:

  • Pupils attending school who need targeted literacy and dyslexia support
  • Students who are electively home educated (EHE) needing structured learning interventions
  • Learners with additional needs or those receiving education other than at school (EOTAS)

You can choose to teach in person or online, with flexibility to fit around your lifestyle and existing commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, evidence-based literacy and dyslexia support sessions.
  • Implement multisensory and structured approaches.
  • Assess individual learning profiles and adapt lessons to meet specific needs.
  • Build self-esteem and confidence through patient, positive teaching.
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to parents/carers or schools.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding standards.
  • Complete safer recruitment and onboarding checks before commencing tuition.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Specialist qualification in dyslexia or SpLD (e.g., Level 5 or Level 7 in Dyslexia and Literacy).
  • Experience supporting learners with literacy difficulties and specific learning differences.
  • Strong understanding of assessment, intervention, and differentiation strategies.
  • A compassionate, learner-centred approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.

What We Offer

  • Flexible hours to suit your lifestyle.
  • Choice of in-person or online tuition.
  • A supportive, professional community of fellow teachers.
  • Dedicated onboarding and safeguarding support.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to students' confidence and outcomes.
