City of York Council is excited to offer an opportunity to joint our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) as the Education Lead.
The MASH is a multi-agency team made up of representatives from a range of services, including Social Care, Early Help, Police and Health Professionals and is a single point of contact for all concerns about children. This partnership approach ensures children, young people and families to get the right level of support as quickly as possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Education Lead to join our MASH to ensure educational expertise and representation is consistently included in discussions, decision-making, and interventions. You will be working in a team of multi-agency professionals social workers, , Early Help Practitioners, Police and health representatives who all are committed to offering the best possible support and intervention to children and families.

We are looking for an individual who can help us continue on our development journey.
The role of the Education Lead will liaise closely with schools, colleges, and other education providers, offering advice and support tailored to the needs of the service and aligned with the city's Early Help strategy. The Education Lead will assist in decision making on contacts received to MASH through seeking out and sharing relevant information to aide decision making, contribution to discussions, feedback to education settings, support to education as lead practitioner for Early Help assessments. As part of eider transformation through families first reforms, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and embedding of new ways of working.
The successful candidate will bring relevant experience in both education and safeguarding, a proven ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across education settings, the local authority, and the voluntary sector. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficient in ICT, thrive in working in a fast-paced environment, skilled in complex decision making, and manage risk in partnership with other agencies and with the family and their network to find the right support at the right time for each individual accessing services.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
