Overview of role:
The Denman Trust is seeking passionate individuals to join our Grant Advisory Panel. As a Grant Advisory Panel Member, you will play a crucial role in overseeing grants aimed at advancing in-person education initiatives within the 69 federations under the NFWI (National Federation of Women's Institutes) umbrella. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the empowerment of women and communities through educational projects.

Role Responsibilities:

Review Grant Applications:

Evaluate grant applications by the 69 federations.

Assess the alignment of proposals with the Denman Trust and NFWI's mission and goals.

Panel Participation:

Actively participate in scheduled panel meetings to discuss, review, and make decisions on grant applications.

Engage in constructive dialogue with fellow panel members to ensure fair and transparent decision-making.

Criteria and Policy Development:

Contribute to the refinement of the Denman Grant Scheme Policy.

Contribute to the refinement of criteria for evaluating grant applications.

Provide insights into key factors that contribute to the success of in-person education initiatives.

Stay informed about best practices in grant evaluation and education.

Promote Diversity and Inclusion:

Encourage applications from a diverse range of projects and federations.

Ensure that the grant selection process reflects the Denman Trust and NFWI's commitment to inclusivity.

Communication:

Maintain open communication with fellow panel members and NFWI representatives.

Advise NFWI representatives on clear communication strategy's for Grant seekers.

Provide constructive feedback to grant applicants.

Confidentiality:

Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in handling sensitive information related to grant applications.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on the panel's activities, decisions, and recommendations.
  • Review completed projects with federations and offer guidance on how to improve in future activities.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Possess a deep passion for the education of women and a genuine desire to make a difference and demonstrate commitment to the mission and values of the NFWI and Denman Trust.
  • Can commit to participating in panel meetings (minimum of 4 times per year for approximately 2 hours.)
    with the possibility of Ad Hoc meetings should the volume of work require additional time.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for constructive discussions.
  • We strongly encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
  • Experience in education, community development, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Understanding of the grant-making process is an asset.
