As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly organised Transport Administrator to support our Transport Manager and team in ensuring the efficient, compliant, and safe movement of materials and fabricated steel. This role is central to keeping our transport operations running smoothly through accurate administration, effective communication, and proactive support.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Transport Manager and wider team.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling deliveries, ensuring transport documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain detailed records including driver hours, vehicle service and maintenance schedules, fuel logs, and compliance reports.
  • Support with regulatory compliance, ensuring all records and processes meet DVSA and FORS requirements.
  • Organise paperwork for vehicle loading, escorted loads, and steel lotting information.
  • Communicate with drivers, sub-contractors, and internal departments to ensure delivery timescales are met.
  • Assist with driver inductions, training records, and maintaining up-to-date certification and compliance files.
  • Assist with FORS accreditation.
  • Handle customer queries and support with complaint resolution in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support audits and inspections by preparing and managing accurate documentation.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of organisation within the transport office and yard.
  • Provide cover for the Transport Manager when required.

Essential Skills

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with database or logistics software.
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, confident liaising with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
  • Knowledge of transport / logistics processes or experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Flexible, hardworking, and a team player with a proactive attitude.
