Job Advert
Manchester Diocese is committed to becoming a more just, equitable, and inclusive church that reflects the diversity of its communities. As part of this ongoing commitment, the Racial Justice Programme works to promote racial equity, inclusion, and belonging across the diocese, we are seeking a Racial Justice Programme Administrator to support this mission.
The Racial Justice Programme Administrator will provide essential administrative and organisational support to the Racial Justice Team, helping to ensure the smooth delivery of the Diocese of Manchester's Racial Justice Programme. This includes coordinating meetings and events, managing communications, supporting financial and data reporting, and maintaining effective systems and processes. The role is key to enabling the team to implement its initiatives efficiently and embed racial justice into the life of the diocese.
The post holder will:
- Provide administrative support to the Racial Justice Programme Team and related initiatives
- Organise events, meetings, and seminars that bring together clergy, lay leaders, and community partners
- Support the collection, collation, and reporting of data that helps monitor progress and impact
- Assist with communications, including preparing PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, and reports
- Support financial administration and reporting to the national Racial Justice Unit
- Coordinate meetings with key stakeholders, including preparing agendas, circulating papers, and taking minutes
- Work with the Communications Team to support the diocesan communication strategy for racial justice.
The successful post holder will bring strong organisational and administrative skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to promoting racial justice and inclusion. They will have experience of managing competing priorities, working to deadlines, and supporting teams in a busy environment.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) is essential, alongside the ability to handle sensitive information with care and discretion. An understanding of the barriers faced by people from Global Majority Heritage backgrounds, and an appreciation of the diverse communities within the Diocese, will be key to success in this role.
Experience of supporting programmes that promote diversity, inclusion, or social justice would be an advantage, as would familiarity with the Church of England's commitment to racial justice, including From Lament to Action. The post holder will be proactive, flexible, and committed to learning. They will value collaboration, bring care and precision to their work, and share the Diocese's commitment to fairness, equality, and respect for all.
Learn and grow
Manchester Diocese is committed to nurturing talent and equipping the post holder to thrive. You'll have access to a diverse range of learning opportunities, from workshops to training sessions, all beginning with our comprehensive onboarding process. In 2024 we were awarded the Investors in People Gold Award.
We are also dedicated to creating a workplace that truly reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We warmly welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds, and especially encourage candidates from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities to apply.
