Senior underwriting opening for an established real estate underwriter, interested in a move to a large corporate insurance group, undergoing growth and expansion across the mid-market P&C sector.

This commercial underwriting division has a significant presence in the real estate specialism, in addition to a large and more developed commercial combined platform which is undergoing growth and development across the group. With extended investment, the portfolio will expand internationally.

Predominantly open market business, leading across a lot of placements, this is a true opportunity to come in, make your mark, and provide a support facility to the head of division.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Extensive account analysis to include reviewing underwriting application/submissions, overseeing risk exposures and completion of underwriting (pricing) management

  • Working closely with the wider commercial division to contribute to the formation of overall execution of strategy / business planning

  • Liaise closely with actuarial support to develop premium benchmarking and pricing models, with development of account pricing/recommendations.

  • Undertaking supervision of work to underwriters as deemed appropriate and responsible for the professional development and training of assigned team members or direct reports if and where applicable.

  • Client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social activities, will include meeting key brokers regularly to discuss production, service, as well as attending industry conferences and seminars as appropriate.

This is a true executive underwriting position, which excellent potential. It will require extensive market an office presence, so in many cases, given the exposure and development of this role, you would be expected to be in 4 days a week.
