Winkworth Machinery is an established designer and manufacturer of industrial mixing equipment. Operating since 1924, each of our mixers is uniquely designed to meet the specific process requirements of our international customers.

Our busy sales team identifies customer requirements and develops suitable machine specifications. This is an office-based role, working from our factory in Basingstoke. The position reports to the Sales Director and supports the Technical Sales Department in achieving new machinery sales to agreed targets.

The role will ensure the effective acquisition and management of customer contracts throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

To be considered for the role, candidates should ideally possess the following attributes, knowledge and skills:

  • Generating an increase in sales of new capital machinery.
  • Undertake background prospecting and engineering work to assist the Sales Department in winning new business.
  • Respond to inquiries as applicable.
  • Generate cost estimates and quotes that are compliant with company policy and agree on a price that meets customer requirements and company expectations.
  • Participate in video conferencing with prospective clients and follow up on quotations and visit customers as required.
  • Produce and carry out technical sales presentations internally or at customer sites.
  • Assist in carrying out product trials at customers' sites and at Winkworth premises.
  • Receive customers' orders and ensure that clients' requirements are appropriately translated into the design, manufacture, and onward execution of an order.
  • Maintain awareness of the order throughout order fulfilment, working effectively with clients and colleagues as required.
  • Participate in project meetings during and on completion of manufacture.
  • Make jigs and fixtures as required to aid machining.
  • Participate and follow up on post-delivery client satisfaction.
  • Travel throughout the UK and worldwide in direct selling and in support of regional sales representatives.
  • Report on markets, competitors and industry changes.
  • Establish and develop new accounts and opportunities through the use of the internet, networking, social media and cold calling.
  • Collaborate with Marketing where appropriate for promotional efforts.
  • Use the company's administration systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Attend exhibitions as and when required – UK and International.
  • Contribute to the creation of case studies with our customers or magazine articles as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proven record of extensive experience in process technology and technical selling.
  • Previous success working within an engineering and/or manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Previous success within a customer-facing role is essential.
  • Prior experience in production, processing industries, or process equipment is desirable.
  • Proven record of achievement in selling capital equipment.
  • A confident, highly motivated and practical individual with a passion for engineering and client satisfaction.
  • Proactive and hardworking with a desire to learn and develop.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good analytical and listening skills.

Qualifications

  • Qualification or experience in Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering / Chemical Engineering or related Sciences.
