Cleaning Team Leader – Border Control Post (BCP)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00 (40 hours per week)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and compliance-focused Cleaning Team Leader to work exclusively within our Border Control Post (BCP). This is a critical role ensuring the site meets strict APHA and Port Health hygiene requirements and always remains fully audit ready.

You will lead the cleaning operation on-site but will report to the cleaning supervisor. You will be required to maintain detailed documentation, and support both daytime and evening cleaning teams to ensure all standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitisation

  • Carry out a full detail clean of an assigned inspection room each day.
  • Perform medical-grade cleaning of rooms, benches, equipment, and tools after every inspection.
  • Ensure correct segregation and disinfection between different risk categories.
  • Maintain high hygiene standards of drainage gullies, exposed pipework, and soft furnishings.
  • Oversee correct usage, storage, and stock levels of approved chemicals.

Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Complete daily audit checks and maintain accurate, auditable cleaning logs.
  • Keep chemical inventories and training records up to date.
  • Ensure approved disinfectants and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available and followed.
  • Escalate spillages that cannot be resolved internally

Oversight & Coordination

  • Direct and support the evening cleaning team to maintain standards.
  • Communicate effectively with cleaners to ensure Port Health requirements are met.
  • Report all issues or risks immediately to either you cleaning supervisor

Requirements

  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Strong knowledge of disinfectants, cleaning chemicals, and safe handling practices.
  • Experience keeping compliance records, logs, or audit documentation.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a small team.
  • High attention to detail and a methodical working style.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow strict procedures.
