Interim Statutory Accountant – Charity Sector (Flexible Consultancy Opportunity)

Location: Yorkshire (hybrid/remote possible)

Type: Interim / Part-time / Consultancy (flexible on structure)

Day Rate / Fixed Fee: Open, based on experience

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Short-term project

Qualification Required: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent

What You'll Do

  • Take the lead on preparing year-end statutory accounts in line with SORP and UK GAAP
  • Build out best-practice processes so the finance team can manage this confidently in the future
  • Ensure a smooth, auditor-ready submission - no last-minute scrambles
  • Share insight and guidance on charity accounting standards, risks, and compliance
  • Act as a mentor and sounding board for the internal finance lead

You'll Need To Bring:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in technical accounting and statutory accounts prep
  • A background in, or exposure to, charity or not-for-profit organisations
  • Excellent working knowledge of SORP and year-end compliance
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to guide others
  • A calm, experienced voice in a team that's open to being shown a better way
