About The Team And The Role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, this role is a vital part of the commercial finance senior management team. The Senior Finance Manager will business partner the Buying Director for Fresh, driving a significant portion of Ocado Retail Limited (ORL) sales. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing a team of two Commercial Finance Managers and one Finance Analyst, while offering guidance and support to other Commercial Finance Managers and Finance Analysts within the broader trading finance team.

What You'll Do
Strategic Financial Partnership:
Providing daily financial leadership and challenge to business partners on pricing, promotions, and buying decisions. Co-piloting the commercial direction and outcomes for the business with the Trading Director and trading managers.

Performance Reporting & Analysis:
Evaluating and enhancing existing weekly and monthly reporting to provide robust and insightful guidance to buyers and the leadership team on trading performance. Tracking agreed decisions and actions from weekly reporting through to completion.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
Leading the buying budget and forecast process. Owning the overall forecasting process, focusing on accuracy improvements and understanding key trade drivers.

Supplier Negotiations:
Supporting the buyers with annual business plans with suppliers to negotiate optimal deals for Ocado, then monitoring performance against targets and advising on course corrections.

Team Leadership & Development:
Standardising processes and ways of working across all categories. In collaboration with the Senior Finance Manager for Ambient, developing and leading junior members of the wider commercial finance team.

Data Insight Collaboration:
Being accountable for the commercial finance team's relationship with data insight colleagues, fostering strong and collaborative ways of working

Who You Are

• Qualified accountant with Strong academics
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Strong Excel skills
• Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
• Able to demonstrate prior performance at a senior finance manager level
• Experience of business partnering with senior stakeholders
• Experience of grocery retail/FMCG is desirable but not essential
• Excellent communication skills and able to build relationships with key stakeholders, both internal & external to the business
• An organised individual that is able to function in a team environment
• An adaptable and responsive person that is open to change and suggestions
• Prepared to go the extra mile and ensure that the job is well done and not just completed
• Dedicated to detail, quality and accuracy
• Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
• Methodical, organised and responds quickly to change, whilst demonstrating a proactive approach
• Forges effective relationships across teams and external advisors easily
