About the team and the role

The Commercial Finance team has exposure to the heartbeat of how our business trades and plays a key role in delivering on our financial objectives. This team provides insight, value add and reporting for both and Zoom by Ocado. It's an exciting time to join the Commercial Finance Team as we head into a pivotal period of accelerated growth and continue to raise the bar for both our finance and commercial colleagues.

Reporting to the Finance Manager – Gross profit and Zoom, the role is responsible for the delivery of effective reporting and analysis of the Zoom P&L down to EBITDA to senior members of both the Commercial team and Finance, closely partnering with our Accounting Centre of Excellence team to review, validate and enhance the quality of our reporting.

Since the launch of the Joint Venture, the business has undergone significant change in its commercial relationships while continuing to grow at pace with the ongoing opening of new capacity into the network. This exciting role is crucial in providing insight, controls, value add and reporting for Zoom by Ocado. The role will involve an end to end P&L oversight of sales and margin, marketing and operational costs plus preparing modelling and inputting into Board papers for business cases.

Zoom by Ocado is Ocado Retail's immediacy, convenience offer and sets itself apart in the UK market with its large range and use of an autopick solution. In 2024, Ocado has 3 live Zoom fulfilment centres with a further pipeline of sites and projects for 2025 and beyond.

What you'll do

• Ownership of commercial insight and reporting on Zoom to key business stakeholders to drive business performance, partnering with our Accounting Centre of Excellence to validate and analyse periodic performance.
• Business Partner to the commercial team of Zoom and the relevant teams across Buying, Marketing and Operations, covering commercial analysis, profitability initiatives and business cases on strategic projects culminating in full ownership of commercial insight, controls and reporting for Zoom P&L to EBITDA
• Lead commercial contact working with FP&A in budgeting/forecasting for Zoom, with foresight to identify/mitigate risks and identify/realise opportunities
• Weekly trade reporting for Zoom; identifying trends and adding value in decision support around sales, margin, promotional activity, product range, ensuring it is customer centric, profitable and comparable to other convenience offers
• Help us to decide on how we expand our Immediacy Channel and where we expand by assessing new sites and variations in the operating model
• Processes improvement and process creation that are future proof for significant growth
• Support on ad-hoc projects relating to the roll out of the Ocado Retail immediacy proposition

Who you are

• Qualified accountant with experience post qualified
• Experience of business partnering with senior stakeholders
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Impactful presentation skills
• Highly analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
• Prior experience of project appraisal (NPV, IRR, ROCE etc.) is preferable
• Excellent communication skills and able to build relationships with key stakeholders,
• An organized individual that is able to function in a team environment.
