Join the Cartwheel kitchen team — a high-quality, fresh-food brunch café serving a seasonal menu, specialty coffee, and modern, inventive plates.
We're looking for a reliable, confident Part-Time Chef (Chef de Partie level or experienced Cook) to join our kitchen team for daytime shifts only.
No evenings, no split shifts — just solid daytime hours in a modern, well-run café kitchen.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working independently at times, is comfortable running a section solo, and values a friendly, respectful working environment.
Hours & Pay
This is a part-time role for 28–30 hours per week, covering:
- Two weekdays, plus
- Both weekend days (weekends are essential)
Shift times:
- Weekdays: approx. 07:30–15:30
- Weekends: approx. 08:00–17:00
Pay options (your choice):
- Freelance: £16.50/hour (invoice weekly), or
- Employed: £13.25/hour (PAYE contract)

Role Responsibilities
- Cooking breakfast & brunch dishes to a consistently high standard
- Preparing fresh ingredients daily
- Maintaining excellent food safety & kitchen cleanliness
- Running the kitchen solo at times with confidence
- Contributing ideas for seasonal menu changes
- Managing prep lists, stock rotation, and basic ordering
- Communicating clearly with the FOH team
- Keeping a calm, organised station during busy services
Who We're Looking For
- Experience in a professional kitchen (chef, CDP, cook, or similar)
- Someone who genuinely cares about the quality of food
- Able to multitask during a busy brunch service
- Strong on organisation, cleanliness, and consistency
- Comfortable working independently when needed
- Reliable, punctual, and considerate
- Good knowledge of food safety
