The Vacancy
WGM Engineering have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Procurement to join our business on a full-time permanent basis, the role will be based in our Glasgow offices on a hybrid working basis. The Head of Procurement will play a pivotal role in shaping, implementing, and overseeing the procurement strategies with WGM Engineering. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, this role ensures that all sourcing and supply chain activities align with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practice standards.

*Duties & Responsibilities:*

  • Oversee all procurement operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality sourcing of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain effective procurement processes and controls to drive efficiency and compliance. Champion continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes, systems, and supplier management.
  • Supplier Relationship Management Establish and foster strategic relationships with key suppliers and business partners.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and service level agreements to secure optimal value for the organisation.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of procurement professionals, setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to build procurement capability within the team utilising and improving capability matrix.
  • Promote a collaborative and high-performance culture within the procurement function.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Work closely with legal, commercial, finance, and compliance to manage contractual and regulatory risks.
  • Manage procurement budgets, deliver cost savings, and enhance value for money.

To be considered for this position you will have at least 3-5 years previous experience in a senior procurement role, ideally within a complex, multi[1]stakeholder environment. The preferred candidate should demonstrate success in developing and implementing procurement strategies, delivering cost savings, and fostering value-driven supplier relationships, hands on experience in leading, developing, and motivating high-performing procurement teams is essential for the position.
