Overview

Duties

  • Assist the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to the needs of individual students.
  • Provide support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom activities.
  • Help create a positive and nurturing learning environment that promotes student well-being and academic success.
  • Work closely with students one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and provide additional tutoring as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the teaching staff on individual achievements and challenges.
  • Foster effective communication between students, teachers, and parents to enhance the educational experience.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications.

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities would be desirable.
  • Strong understanding of teaching methodologies and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to mentor and tutor students, providing guidance that fosters their academic growth.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for supporting individuals on the spectrum is highly desirable.
