Job Description
Join the team as an Operational Procedures Officer and play a crucial role in supporting the ongoing development of aerodrome procedures at one of the world's busiest airports. This is a unique opportunity responsible to support the development of aerodrome procedures, ensuring Heathrow's Airside operation applies continuous improvement methodologies to develop safe, efficient and compliant aerodrome procedures applicable to the complex operation at Heathrow. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Airside Operations and Operational Safety Improvement teams to ensure procedures meet Quality & Safety Management Systems requirement, and with the 'Airfield Operations' team to ensure that procedures are safe, practicable and meet the needs of the operation.

Your role will involve

  • Develop, maintain, and update operational procedures for airside activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Ensures that the Aerodrome change management process is followed, and that aerodrome changes are correctly documented and assessed.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely publication, maintenance of airside operational documentation across the Heathrow Airport website and the Airport Community App. Ensure that all procedures are effectively communicated to the airside team and that internal and external stakeholders and to ensure consistent and reliable access to the most current and compliant documentation.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders—including NATS, Ground Handlers, and Airlines—to support the development of robust aerodrome procedures, while working closely with internal Heathrow teams to ensure all procedures are aligned with overarching airside operational objectives.
  • Provide comprehensive support to the Aerodrome Procedures Manager in the coordination and execution of ad hoc projects and meetings pertaining to aerodrome procedural updates and developments.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties in support of the Airside Operations team.

These Skills Are Essential

  • Knowledge of regulatory environment under which Heathrow operates, including practical application of relevant licensing documentation.
  • Operational experience of Airside Operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to compose high quality formal documentation suited to the intended audience.
  • A valid UK driving license and occupational health medical check to enable the successful post holder to obtain an Airside Driving Permit.
  • Able to develop positive and productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Fastidious with attention to detail and highly computer literate.
  • Able to follow a defined process but also able to think laterally ('around the problem') when required.

Desirable

  • Comfortable influencing at all levels of the business
  • Experience of managing aeronautical data
  • Awareness of CAA 139/2014 requirements and the EU Ground Handling Directive
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and compliance tracking tools.

Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow . Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
