MARKETING LEAD for the Chartered Institute of Fundraising London and South East Region

ABOUT THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF FUNDRAISING

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK

fundraising. We support fundraisers through leadership and representation; best practice and

compliance; education and networking; and we champion and promote fundraising as a career

choice. We have over 600 organisational members who raise more than £10 billion in income

for good causes every year, and over 6,000 individual members.

ABOUT THE COMMITTEE

The London and South East Committee is a constituted group of volunteers who come

together to support fundraisers in London and the South East. We provide a forum for

fundraisers to meet other fundraisers in the sector, share information and advice, and offer

training and talks, presented by leading specialists.

As a committee, we take collective responsibility for the outputs and outcomes of our work.

Each member of the Committee has a unique responsibility; some take leadership roles,

others prefer support roles, but each Committee member has equal levels of authority when

we make decisions. All our decisions are made democratically therefore it is vital that anyone

who joins us is able to take ownership for their role whilst working supportively and

collaboratively with the rest of the group.

THE ROLE

The Marketing Lead for the Committee is a volunteer role. They will be responsible for

promoting its events, mentoring and training and will spearhead membership promotion. If

there is anything that we need to adapt about this role to make it more inclusive, please do let

us know.

We expect this role to take an average of 3 hours per month, however additional hours may

be necessary from time to time. In addition, we hold a hybrid Committee meeting roughly every

month and they are always held in an accessible venue in central London for those wishing to

join in-person. The meetings are always held in the evening from 6-8pm. Refreshments are

provided. We can reimburse you for the cost of your travel to and from meetings and any

childcare arrangements that are necessary. Young babies are welcome to attend the meeting

if this makes it easier for you.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

• Responsibility and accountability in a key, voluntary Committee role

• Support in getting up to speed in your role as well as ongoing support in the role

• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

• Reimbursement of expenses if required (to be pre-agreed by the Chair) to enable you

to attend Committee meetings in-person, if that is your preference.

• Most importantly, we can offer you the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting

other fundraisers to be the best they can be.

• We will aim to recruit current or additional committee members to support with the role

if and when needed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Marketing and Communications function to undertake all of the following

tasks collectively:

o Formalise a marketing and communications plan for the London and South

East Chartered Institute of Fundraising region; coordinating responsibility for
