Synergie Environ is an energy engineering firm based in Glasgow, Scotland focused on cutting cost, consumption, and carbon for our clients.

Synergie Environ is a specialist energy and sustainability consultancy supporting organisations to make clear, confident decisions in an increasingly complex energy landscape. Our work spans two core areas: (1) evidence-driven energy efficiency and decarbonisation services, including ESOs, feasibility studies, low-carbon technology optioneering and net-zero strategy; and (2) the delivery of low-carbon engineering projects (DHN, EfW) through concept design, FEED, and project management from planning through to commissioning.

We are now seeking a Principal Energy Engineer to strengthen both sides of the business, providing technical leadership and shaping practical, sustainable solutions for clients across the UK. The Principal Engineer will represent the company in client meetings, produce reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications, and monitor project delivery both in the office and from on-site works. 


The Principal Energy Efficiency & Industrial Decarbonisation Engineer will represent the company in client meetings, produce reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications, and monitor project delivery both in the office and from on site works. They are responsible for the delivery of all design requirements including; building services schematic drawings, layout drawings, and supporting calculations.
 
As the Principal Energy Efficiency and Industrial Decarbonisation Engineer, you will:
  • Oversee the demonstration of safe approach in Consulting practices, following the objectives of the Group or project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans and leading by example
  • Ensure knowledge of, and compliance with client, industry and international specifications and standards Direct and supervise Designers and Graduates within projects
  • Identify opportunities for business development with current and new clients Secure new work by contributing to, and on occasionally leading responses to tender, including networking and face to face meetings with Clients
  • Develop project plans and schedules for small to medium sized projects Immediately identify to more senior colleagues of any issue that has the potential to cause change or growth to any area of the project or study, in comparison to the original intent / deliverables required
  • Assist with training and development of Graduate Engineers and Designers
  • Oversee production of cost effective and referenceable solutions and business cases that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both Synergie Environ and the Client
  • Project manage and monitoring progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget Report progress as per business systems and procedures Produce and check documents and consultancy deliverables
  • Remain up to date with technical developments, client, national and international standards and legislative requirements including Industry Codes and Standards and HSE Alerts
  • Oversee responsibility for ensuring professional development is maintained and identified competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner
  • Adhere to the company integrated management system Comply with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies
  • Demonstrate and promote Synergie Environ QHSE principles and lead by example Ensure unsafe activities are challenged
  • Adhere to the requirements of the best practice standards recommendations and processes in the undertaking of duties Demonstrate and promote PD&MS Group and RSK Group values and lead by example.

About You

Qualifications:
  • Masters / Degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering / Science Discipline
  • Chartered (or equivalent) status in relevant discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil Engineering or Building Services) with strong public-sector decarbonisation experience

Experience/competence:
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit and experience of working in 2D and/or 3D Revit
  • Familiarity with Energy Modelling Software (Energy Pro)
  • Familiarity with GIS Software
  • Experience of designing and implementing heat decarbonisation projects OR equivalent senior engineering experience
  • Experience of delivering technical audits (NB: different from feasibility studies) of PSDS, GHNF, SPHDF, or similar grants. Including experience of verifying technology installations and commissioning evidence. - Preferred
  • Demonstration of safe approach in design and Consulting practices,
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards.
  • Direction and supervision of Engineers, Senior Engineers, Designers and Graduates within projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the client and other team members.
  • Previous experience of leading and delivering decarbonisation projects
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications
