About Wylde

Wylde is a growing family of independent cafés (and a microbakery) across the Wirral; built around specialty coffee, great food, and genuine hospitality.

We serve an all-day breakfast brunch menu made from quality ingredients, with a focus on flavour, seasonality, and simplicity done really well. We're a small, tight-knit team that takes pride in what we do and care about creating a space that feels good to work in and visit.

The Role

We're looking for a Head Chef to lead our Heswall kitchen and help us keep raising the bar.

You'll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations from prep and service to menu development and cost control; while working hands-on to deliver a consistently high standard of food.

You'll collaborate closely with owners and the wider Wylde team to evolve our seasonal offering, manage a small kitchen crew, and keep the back-of-house running smoothly day to day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead kitchen service with calm, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and serve our menu and seasonal specials to Wylde's standards.
  • Manage ordering, stock control, and supplier relationships.
  • Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and allergen compliance.
  • Support and develop your kitchen team; coaching and training where needed.
  • Control food cost and waste while maintaining quality and creativity.
  • Contribute to new menu ideas that fit the Wylde ethos.

What we're looking for:

  • Experienced as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a café, bistro, or quality casual dining environment.
  • Passionate about fresh, seasonal food and simple, balanced flavours.
  • Organised and calm under pressure; a natural team leader.
  • Knowledgeable in kitchen systems, prep planning, and food cost control.
  • Experience in strong levels of food hygiene/EHO inspections.
  • Values good culture; kind, reliable, and team-focused.
