Senior Cost Planner

As
Senior Cost Planner
, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the
commercial strategy and financial success
of major residential projects, leading feasibility studies, cost plans, and value engineering for developments ranging from
£100 million to £1 billion+
.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, design teams, and commercial departments to ensure projects achieve the perfect balance between
design aspiration and cost efficiency
— influencing some of London's most exciting new developments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of
    cost plans, feasibility studies, and budget estimates
    for major schemes.
  • Provide
    strategic cost advice
    during the design and planning stages of developments.
  • Oversee benchmarking, cost modelling, and value engineering to optimise project viability.
  • Collaborate closely with internal design, technical, and commercial teams to align financial and delivery goals.
  • Mentor and guide junior cost planners, supporting their professional growth.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of
    construction costs, market trends, and supply chain dynamics
    .
  • Contribute to early-stage commercial and land appraisal discussions with senior stakeholders.


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree-qualified in
    Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
    .
  • Proven experience as a
    Senior Cost Planner or Cost Planning Manager
    within a major developer or Tier 1 contractor.
  • Strong technical knowledge of
    cost modelling, estimating, and value management
    .
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly commercial, proactive, and comfortable influencing at a strategic level.
  • Proficiency in
    Excel, CostX, or similar cost planning software
    .
