We're seeking an experienced
Communications & Events Manager
to support high-profile defence innovation initiatives within an international environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced settings, enjoys variety, and is confident engaging with senior stakeholders, media, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of major events, working closely with internal teams and external partners.
  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations activity, including media outreach, preparing leadership briefings, and managing the press inbox.
  • Act as the primary liaison with an external events agency, ensuring seamless coordination and logistics.
  • Create high-quality communications materials such as presentations, speaking notes, messaging, social media content, and web copy.
  • Provide day-to-day communications support to colleagues, including reviewing presentations, formatting documents, drafting content, and offering strategic advice.
  • Contribute to broader organisational communications objectives and perform related duties as required.

Key Skills & Experience Required (Essential)

  • SC/ NS clearance
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, public relations, media relations or events management.
  • At least 2 years' experience planning, coordinating and delivering events within the defence sector or involving defence stakeholders (e.g., trade shows, conferences, international meetings).
  • Minimum 2 years' hands-on media relations experience, including drafting pitches, shaping outreach strategies, managing inquiries, and preparing senior leaders for media engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling messaging.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities, including experience liaising with senior leadership and external agencies.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving, international environment.
