Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Reporting to: Head of Pre-Prep

This position supports learning across our Pre-Preparatory year groups. Those with experience of working with young children and / or Teaching Assistant qualifications are invited to apply.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To assist with management and discipline in the classroom, the playground and around the school.
  • To undertake administrative tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
  • To take responsibility for a class for short periods of time with pre-arranged education activities.
  • To work with groups of children or individuals to support the class teachers in specific lessons.

  • To manage day to day routine tasks independently and effectively.
  • To supervise pupils at launch and at playtime as part of the staff duty rota.
  • To ensure a safe and secure environment enabling pupils to feel relaxed and happy.
  • To be prepared to attend courses to aid professional development.
  • To be available to undertake any reasonable task that the Teachers, Deputy Head or Head Mistress may from time to time require.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Possess a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 3 or above) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils.
  • A commitment and passion for education with a desire to be fully involved in the life of school.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with a caring manner with children.
  • A flexible approach to work, ability to balance priorities in a busy school environment.

Desirable

  • A good understanding of independent schools and their rationale.
  • An interest and commitment in other areas i.e. sport, drama.
