Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Primary) – Brighton

About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brighton is looking for a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their supportive team.

In this rewarding role, you'll work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as autism, ADHD and speech & language difficulties. Your support will help children achieve their academic, emotional and social potential every day.

This is a full-time, term-time only position, perfect for a graduate or experienced Teaching Assistant who's passionate about inclusive primary education and wants to make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN across the primary curriculum
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Assist with EHCP targets and behaviour-support plans
  • Promote engagement through creative, positive strategies
  • Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCo, and external specialists
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Graduate (2:1 or above preferred) or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Childcare qualification
  • Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs (personal or professional)
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable with excellent communication skills
  • Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Passionate about education, inclusion and child development
