Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Primary) – Brighton
About the Role
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brighton is looking for a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their supportive team.
In this rewarding role, you'll work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as autism, ADHD and speech & language difficulties. Your support will help children achieve their academic, emotional and social potential every day.
This is a full-time, term-time only position, perfect for a graduate or experienced Teaching Assistant who's passionate about inclusive primary education and wants to make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEN across the primary curriculum
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
- Assist with EHCP targets and behaviour-support plans
- Promote engagement through creative, positive strategies
- Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCo, and external specialists
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Graduate (2:1 or above preferred) or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Childcare qualification
- Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs (personal or professional)
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable with excellent communication skills
- Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Passionate about education, inclusion and child development

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

- Previous school-based experience desirable but not essential
