Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and direction of the business. This position is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities across all sectors in which we operate, generating qualified leads into meetings and coordinating the progression of these opportunities through the full sales journey — from prospecting to order.
Working closely with the field sales team and sales director this role bridges commercial strategy and market execution. The individual will leverage deep market exposure to influence strategic decision-making and go-to-market models and strengthen our customer experience and retention efforts.
Please note that this role will cover TigerTurf and TenCate Outdoor Living Brands in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and research new business opportunities across multiple sectors (contractors, consultants and customers) in Sport and Outdoor Living
- Develop and maintain a structured prospecting plan
- Initiate contact with potential customers via calls, email, events and in person
- Qualify leads and arrange meetings for the field sales teams, ensuring they are well-briefed with relevant background and opportunity details
- Support the follow-up process, coordinating between departments to ensure timely communication and conversion to order
- Maintain a strong pipeline and report on lead status and key insights
Strategic Input & Market Intelligence
- Use insight gained from prospecting to identify trends, opportunities, and threats within the market
- Provide regular feedback to senior leadership to help shape commercial and marketing strategy across all channels
Commercial Support
- Contribute to pricing strategy discussions, analysing market positioning and value perception to ensure competitiveness and profitability
- Help refine customer segmentation across sales channels
Customer Retention & Experience
- Collaborate with the Customer Experience and Sales teams to strengthen relationships with existing customers, identify upselling opportunities, and reduce churn
- Support customer onboarding and training sessions, ensuring customers understand product features, benefits, and service expectations
- Gather customer feedback and translate insights into actionable improvements across operations, marketing, and product development
