Scottish Citylink (SCCL) is a subsidiary of Singapore-based ComfortDelGro; one of the world's largest passenger land transport companies.

SCCL is comprised of three brands, Scottish Citylink, Megabus and Falcon, which together generate annual revenues on the region of £65m per annum running bus and coach services in Scotland and England.

Job summary

The Finance Manager (FM) will lead on all financial control aspects of the entity, including producing the monthly P&L results and annual financial statements for all three brands, including the preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns and cash management.

The FM will lead the annual audit process with assistance from two direct reports.

Main Responsibilities

Finance Manager responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of Annual Accounts in accordance with the Group reporting deadlines.
  • Period end reporting and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Lead and co-ordinate the annual financial audit.
  • Ensuring accounting practices comply with regulations (IFRS).
  • Ensuring revenue and costs are correctly received and accounted for, including working with Transport Scotland for concessionary scheme revenue.
  • Cashflow management and co-ordination of payment runs
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
  • Continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis as requested by the local management team or group finance team.
  • Lead a team of two; Assistant Management Accountant and Operational Finance Assistant

Competencies & Skills

  • Previous Experience as a Finance Manager or similar level.
  • Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with an excellent understanding of fundamental accounting principles and the application of them in practice.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly and at all levels
  • Excellent attention for detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Organised, proactive, methodical and results orientated
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively and work to strict deadlines
  • Able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Experience of accounting software (Oracle and SAP are advantageous, but not necessary)
  • Management reporting experience
  • Team management experience committed to ensuring that the overall team and business objectives are met

Hours of work

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Hybrid working with 3 days in the office)

Salary

Upto £60,000 DOE (Depending on Experience)
