SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD) | Ideal for Aspiring Physiotherapists | Croydon

Are you a compassionate graduate with a strong understanding of Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? Are you looking for hands-on experience that aligns with a future career in physiotherapy or healthcare?

We are recruiting compassionate and committed Teaching Assistants to support students aged 14–25 with complex physical, medical, and learning needs at a specialist SEND school in Croydon.

This is an ideal role for graduates in health, psychology, education or related fields who want meaningful, practical experience before progressing to further training such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or SEN teaching.

You'll be working closely with teachers, therapists, and clinical staff to support students in accessing a rich and tailored educational programme. The work includes assisting with physiotherapy routines, mobility, hydrotherapy and personal care, as well as contributing to individualised learning plans. All students are wheelchair users and require high levels of care, so manual handling is an essential part of the role.

SEND TA Specification:

  • Strong awareness of the needs of individuals with PMLD
  • Empathy, patience, and a proactive attitude
  • Interest in physiotherapy or a therapy-related career
  • Experience in care or SEND (desirable but not essential)
