The opportunity
A position has arisen for a junior / mid-level associate to join our growing Employee Incentives & Benefits ("EIB") team and will come with a lot of autonomy and potentially significant career progression. The role will consist entirely of EIB work and your work will focus on advice to our PRIVATE COMPANY clients, including: incentives aspects of corporate transactions (including tax), the design of core management incentive arrangements, such as EMI option plans growth shares, CSOPs, LTIPs, JSOPs, employee benefit trusts and nominee arrangements; cross-border incentive arrangements, including the roll-out of global equity arrangements across multiple jurisdictions; advising on employment taxes, including termination payments and tax-advantaged share plans. You will also assist with advice to our LISTED clients, ranging from AIM to Main Market and covering both transactional and advisory elements including: executive and all-employee share plans, together with their related trust/nominee arrangements, tax and cross-border elements.

The team at Bird & Bird works closely with founders and board members, including remuneration committees, as well as key members of the management team, general counsel and HR teams in organisations of varying sizes and we have a particular strength in assisting start-up business and guiding those companies through their lifecycle of funding rounds and other corporate/employee events until a future share sale/IPO and beyond. You will therefore need to be able to advise in a concise, commercial manner, be flexible in your approach to work and eager to embrace a challenge.

The main responsibilities of this role are outlined above; however, this description is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role may require some working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am- 5:30pm.
