About the Role

We are seeking a caring, proactive and organised Pastoral Assistant to join our dedicated Student Services Team at The Netherhall School and Oakes College. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students by supporting their wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress.

As part of our Pastoral, ReBoot and Arday Inclusion Teams, you will help ensure our students are safe, supported and ready to learn. You will act as a first point of contact for welfare and behaviour issues, contribute to improving attendance and punctuality, and work closely with colleagues, parents and carers to provide a positive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for student welfare, behaviour and attendance concerns.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the Senior Leadership Team, School Achievement Leaders, and Student Services.
  • Mentor individual students or small groups to support academic progress and wellbeing.
  • Support students temporarily removed from mainstream lessons, ensuring they remain engaged in their learning while in ReBoot.
  • Liaise with parents and carers, arranging and attending meetings as needed.
  • Monitor and record student attendance, behaviour, and interventions accurately.
  • Assist in organising and supervising detentions, restorative sessions and behaviour interventions.
  • Contribute to attendance improvement plans and initiatives for key and disadvantaged students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school to ensure consistent implementation of behaviour and attendance policies.
  • Provide first aid support as a qualified First-Aider (training provided if needed).

You will be an empathetic and resilient individual who enjoys working with young people and helping them succeed. You'll have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the confidence to deal with a wide range of situations calmly and professionally.

  • A genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing and success of young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • Experience working in a pastoral, educational or youth support setting (desirable).
  • Good IT and administrative skills.
  • A positive, solution-focused attitude and the ability to work well under pressure.
