Jewson a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Yard Supervisor to join the team in our Derby branch, who's as passionate about great service as we are.

Hours: 7.00am–16.30pm or 7:30am - 17:00pm Monday to Friday and every other Saturday morning 8am-12pm

Location: Jewson, Alfreton Road, Derby, DE21 4RT

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers to the branch and take an active interest in their projects, lead by example to ensure you and your team provide great customer service.
  • Get to know our product lines so you can offer help and advice.
  • Supervise all operational aspects of the yard, ensuring your yard team of 4 are briefed for the day, including delivery drivers, and that all health and safety measures are in place and your team are compliant.
  • Help to process and prepare customer orders - load and unload customer and supplier vehicles using a forklift truck to minimise manual handling (training will be provided).
  • Work as a direct support the management team and act as a keyholder when required.
  • Check incoming deliveries and report missing or damaged products.
  • Maintain stock levels in both the warehouse and yard areas, carrying out regular stock counts.
  • Keep the branch looking clean and tidy and make Health & Safety a priority.
  • Work with colleagues to suggest opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Previous industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • A positive team player who is a strong and inclusive leader.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for dealing with customers, and a 'customer 1st' attitude.
  • Confident working both indoors and outdoors, with a strong focus on H&S.
  • Comfortable in a role involving extensive manual handling of bulky items.
  • Counterbalance Forklift license preferred.
