Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Cook to join our team on a bank (as-needed) basis at Crossways Care Home.

As a Cook, you will play a key role in providing nutritious, well-balanced, and appealing meals for our residents in accordance with their dietary needs and preferences. You'll ensure food is prepared safely and hygienically, contributing to a warm and caring environment within the home.

This is a bank position, offering flexibility to cover planned and unplanned absences, holidays, and busy periods — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and flexible working hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals that meet residents' dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Plan menus in line with nutritional guidelines and individual care plans.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and stored safely in compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and associated areas.
  • Manage stock levels and assist with ordering supplies where required.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff to accommodate residents' special requests and dietary needs.
  • Support in maintaining allergen management and food safety records.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care home, hospital, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and safe kitchen practices.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A caring attitude and commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as part of the bank staff team.
  • Right to work in the UK.
