Digital Data and Technology Officer (CCR)Job description
Digital, Data and Technology Officer
£36,363 - £40,777
About the Organisation:
Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) is one of the UK's most ambitious and forward-looking regions — a powerhouse of vibrant communities, world-class universities, cutting-edge research, and dynamic business clusters. Covering ten local authorities and home to over 1.5 million people, CCR is delivering a long-term programme of sustainable growth, innovation, and infrastructure investment.
About the Job:
Are you ready to take the next step in your career as a Digital, Data and Technology Officer in the public sector?
At CCR, we believe in the power of knowledge and innovation to transform our region. Our Digital and Data Solutions team sits at the heart of this mission, designing and delivering digital tools and data-driven insights that make processes simpler, decisions smarter, and outcomes better for everyone.
We're looking for a motivated and curious individual to join our growing digital capability. In this role, you'll work closely with the Digital and Data Solutions Manager to design and enhance systems built on the Microsoft Power Platform, creating solutions that empower colleagues and improve performance across CCR. You'll transform ideas into practical tools by automating manual processes, building intuitive digital solutions, and producing clear guidance to drive adoption. You'll also support data management and compliance, ensuring robust governance and helping deliver the benefits of digital initiatives.
This is a varied and rewarding role where creativity and collaboration are valued. You'll have the freedom to experiment with new approaches, explore emerging technologies like AI, and share ideas that shape CCR's digital future. As part of a small, supportive team, your work will have a real impact, helping colleagues make the most of technology and ensuring CCR stays ahead of the curve.
What we are looking for from you:
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about digital solutions and enjoys solving problems. You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you should ideally bring:
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn ideas and requirements into practical digital solutions.
- Proactive approach to improvement, able to identify opportunities to streamline processes and introduce smarter ways of working.
- An understanding of data management and compliance, and an appreciation for why good governance matters.
- Good communication skills, able to explain technical concepts in a clear, approachable way.
- A collaborative mindset, comfortable working with colleagues across different teams to understand their needs and deliver solutions.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies such as AI and automation, and an interest in exploring how they can add value.
- Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reporting, dashboards, and digital tools.
- Organisational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and deliver to deadlines.
As we said, you don't need to tick every box. What matters most is your willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to making CCR's digital and data capability the best it can be.
Ready to Shape a Region?
If you're excited by the challenge, motivated by purpose, and ready to leave a lasting legacy on a region undergoing major transformation, we want to hear from you.
