Job Alert: PMLD Learning Support Assistant – Forest Gate

We are currently recruiting a PMLD Learning Support Assistant to join our partnered Specialist School based in Forest Gate. This is a Full time, Long term role working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, term time only, with excellent opportunities for career progression within a supportive and established team.

We are seeking candidates with proven experience supporting PMLD students on a 1:1 basis. Hoist, moving and handling experience is highly desirable. Please be aware that personal care is a core requirement of this position. Previous SEN experience is essential for this Learning Support Assistant role within our Specialist School in Forest Gate.

Daily duties of a PMLD Learning Support Assistant include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with PMLD, ensuring safety, engagement, and well-being
  • Assisting with personal care, including changing, feeding, and hygiene routines
  • Using hoists and following moving and handling procedures when supporting PMLD learners
  • Facilitating communication using specialist methods and tools
  • Supporting pupils in sensory activities, therapy sessions, and structured learning opportunities
  • Monitoring student progress and communicating updates with the class teacher
  • Ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment within the Specialist School
  • Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement throughout the school day
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and wider staff to provide consistent Long term support
  • Assisting with classroom preparation, resources, and adaptations for individual PMLD needs

This Full time, Long term opportunity is ideal for a committed Learning Support Assistant seeking to continue their career within a Specialist School environment in Forest Gate, working closely with PMLD students and contributing to their educational and personal development.
