DAC Support Ltd, are recruiting Specialist Mentors (Mental Health) to support Higher Education students. The position offers flexible hours to suit you while making a difference to students' educational experiences.

We have students with disabilities or mental health conditions who need one-to-one support in their higher education studies. As a Specialist Mentor (mental health) you will help students develop coping strategies and techniques to manage their specific disability-related challenges.
The support provided by professional Specialist Mentors (Mental Health) is highly specialised which is reflected in the usually higher hourly rate for this type of support.
A Specialist Mentor (Mental Health) will encourage students to build on their strengths and stay focused. They will introduce appropriate interventions to boost the student's self-confidence, motivation and organisational skills.
The Specialist Mentor (Mental Health) will support students in managing their workload and addressing issues that affect their studies. Excellent communication, organisational skills, and flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the students are essential qualities for this role.
Requirements:
Ideally you will have experience of working with students with mental health difficulties in higher or further education.
Applicants must be willing to meet with students remotely and on a face-to-face basis if this is a request for their support provision.
This is a specialist role, and so you must hold a professional membership with one of the following organisations:
- National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate (NCAC) (addiction professionals)
- Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) - Full membership
- Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions – Accredited or full membership
- The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) - Full Accredited membership.
- The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) - Registered or Accredited Member
- British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) – Registrant
- British Psychological Society (BPS):
Registered with the BPS Wider Psychological Workforce Register:
a. Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP)
b. Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP)
c. Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAP) Scotland
d. Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAP)
OR
BPS Chartered Member (CPsychol) or Graduate member (GMBPsS)
AND
A postgraduate qualification in mental health
· Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA)
· General Medical Council (GMC) - Psychiatry – Full Registration
· Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
o Arts Therapist
o Occupational Therapist
o Practitioner Psychologist
· International Society of Psychotherapy and Counselling (ISPC) - Full Accredited or Fellow
· Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) - Accredited membership
· National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) - Accredited (MNCPS Acc), or Accredited Professional Registrant (PNCPS Prof Acc), or Senior Accredited Registrant status (SNCPS Snr Acc).
· Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
o Mental Health Nurse

o Psychiatric Nurse
· Social Work England (SWE) - Social Worker
· Social Care Wales (SCW) - Social Worker
· Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) - Social Worker

· The University Mental Health Advisers Network (UMHAN) - Accredited Practitioner membership
This is a fixed term/rolling contract.
