Main Purpose and Scope of the Job
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Contracts Manager to supervise and manage current contracts and site staff, acting as the vital link between operatives and management. The successful candidate will play a key role in streamlining and improving the operational side of the business while ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and compliance across all sites.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Site Activities
- Manage Supervisors and Inspectors, overseeing daily routines and activities to build a strong, efficient team.
- Maintain daily communication with site staff and General Contractors to determine labour requirements.
- Liaise with Transport Manager/Yard Staff regarding deliveries, load lists, collections, and surplus materials.
- Oversee work standards, produce snagging lists, and ensure quality across all projects.
- Support with invoicing input, including variations and month-end reports.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety requirements, particularly the correct use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Monitor and record timekeeping and attendance for all site personnel.
Scaffold Inspections & Handovers
- Carry out Hand Over Inspections (where applicable).
- Conduct statutory 7-day inspections (cover support as required).
General Responsibilities
- Produce job sheets, load lists, and oversee daily site images.
- Attend planning meetings and allocate labour appropriately for each job.
- Prepare Risk Assessments and Compliance Sheets.
- Oversee Site Progress Reports, including photographic evidence.
- Conduct or oversee Toolbox Talks and Site Surveys.
- Attend site survey meetings and liaise with site managers regarding ongoing and upcoming work.
- Oversee Tie Pull Out/Proof Tests and record findings.
Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications
- CISRS Scaffolder certification (essential)
- SSSTS Site Supervisor Qualification (or equivalent) (essential)
- Asbestos Awareness (C&G approved) (preferred)
- Advanced Scaffold Inspection (CISRS) (preferred)
- Emergency First Aid at Work (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to navigate and use the Smart Inspector App/Programme
Experience
- Minimum 12 months' experience in a Contracts Manager role (preferred)
- Proven ability to manage, support, and motivate teams effectively
- Hands-on experience in scaffolding operations and site management
Knowledge
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry legislation and best practice, including:
- TG20
- SG4
- Work at Height Regulations
- Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
