An exciting opportunity to join the growing events team at Orange Grove Hotel & Gardens We are currently looking for enthusiastic and reliable Casual Event Staff to support the delivery of weddings, functions, and events at our stunning venue. This is a flexible, as-needed role ideal for those who enjoy working in a dynamic and customer-focused environment.

Orange Grove Hotel & Gardens boasts over 25,000 square feet of beautifully restored Victorian architecture, set within 9 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland. Conveniently located between Fareham and Southampton, just minutes from Junction 9 of the M27 (Whiteley), our venue hosts a wide range of events throughout the year.

Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Casual Event Staff. This role is on an as-needed basis, with shifts offered in line with scheduled weddings, conferences, private parties, and other events at our venue. Ideal candidates will be flexible, well-presented, and passionate about delivering excellent service in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of event spaces (tables, chairs, decorations, AV equipment, etc.)
  • Welcome and direct guests in a professional and friendly manner
  • Serve food and beverages during sit-down meals, buffets, or bar service as required
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of event areas throughout the event
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and communicate effectively with team members
  • Support the smooth running of events, adapting quickly to changing requirements
  • Ensure excellent customer service is delivered at all times
  • Assist with post-event cleaning and resetting of rooms for future use

Requirements

  • Previous experience in events, catering, or hospitality is preferred but not essential
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and carry out physical tasks such as lifting or moving furniture
  • Smart appearance and good personal hygiene
