Hours: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am (4 nights per week, including some weekends and bank holidays)

About the Role

We're looking for a reliable, professional, and friendly individual to join our team as a Night Receptionist / Night Porter at The New Thomas Arms Hotel. You'll be the main point of contact for guests overnight, ensuring the comfort, safety, and security of the hotel while maintaining our high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to late-arriving guests and assist with check-ins and check-outs.
  • Handle telephone and email enquiries during the night shift.
  • Carry out regular security and safety checks around the property.
  • Set up or tidy function rooms and public areas as required.
  • Prepare simple late-night or early-morning guest requests (such as refreshments).
  • Ensure accurate handover and reporting to day staff.
  • Assist with basic housekeeping or maintenance tasks as needed to keep the hotel in good order.

About You

  • Previous hotel, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred but not essential — full training will be provided.
  • Confident working independently and handling guest queries calmly and professionally.
  • Trustworthy, well-presented, and attentive to detail.
  • Comfortable working overnight, including weekends and holidays as part of the rota.
