Job OverviewThe Business Unit Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a professional team or department. The role requires a balance of delivery discipline, trading knowledge, and technical acumen to ensure data used across front office trade capture and risk functions is accurate, controlled and fit for purpose. The successful candidate will drive outcomes in partnership with business, Central Data Office and technology stakeholders, ensuring measurable improvements in data quality and governance
Job Background/context:
Within Counterparty Trading & Risk (CTR), the Markets Capital Advancement team is the central team that drives and oversees execution and management of capital initiatives. The XVA trading desk (part of Counterparty Trading and Risk) is responsible for the pricing and subsequent risk management of derivatives trades including the use of credit, funding and capital. As part of both teams' mandate to facilitate business and manage return on capital, the desks need Front Office staff focused specifically on capital for Markets. This role, within COO, will support the broader CTR team in ensuring the CTR data domain is in compliance with the enterprise-wide data policies
Responsibilities:
- Act as senior point of contact for data governance forums and working groups
- Produce accurate and insightful project update materials and artifacts, tailoring to various forums and committees
- Drive administrative, operational, reporting and quality improvements through partnership with internal teams
- Ensure the CTR execution of Data Consent Order remediation programme ensuring deliver in line with regulatory commitments and timelines, as well as adhering to enterprise-wide data policies
- Drive CTR execution of data quality improvements, lineage mapping, and control frameworks
- Drive and track remediation activities to close regulatory findings and data issues; manage evidence gathering and documentation
- Identify challenges and proactively seek to resolve or escalate risk and issues in a timely and well-articulated manner to the projects by engaging relevant stakeholders and PMs
- Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships across Global Markets front-to-back stakeholders, e.g., trading desk, finance, operations, technology, risk management
- Responsible for all cross-product technology, regulatory and administrative duties in conjunction with the Triage team
- Lead working groups with Business, Quant, Finance and Technology stakeholders to develop and deliver solutions to complex problems.
- Analyzing large datasets using Excel, SQL, Tableau
- Assist in ensuring that all CTR target state tools, processes and controls are socialized effectively and are approved at or by the appropriate governance forum or level
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in financial services
- Must be an energetic self-starter/able to drive initiative with minimal direction
- Solid understanding of financial services industry and technology, trading workflows & trade lifecycle
- Strong knowledge in Data governance practices: Data lineage, Data quality, metadata management, data controls
- Experience in trading and Regulatory related projects
- Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders
- Hands on technical ability to work with data (SQL, Analysis, Visualisation)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred
