Solicitor – Group Litigation and Collective Claims

Join one of the UK's leading group litigation teams at the forefront of claimant-side collective redress.

We are looking for an ambitious solicitor to join our market-leading Group and Collective Litigation team at Hugh James.

Our Collective Litigation team at Hugh James is renowned for its breadth of expertise and its role in landmark group actions across environmental nuisance, professional negligence, product liability, competition, consumer, and financial mis-selling claims.

We are currently instructed in major High Court cases. We also lead one of the UK's largest ever military claims (Abbott & Others v MoD) and are regularly instructed in high-profile domestic and cross-border actions.

We are seeking a driven solicitor to help progress complex, high-value cases alongside senior colleagues. You will handle individual claims and assist with strategic issues common across large client cohorts.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing documents, preparing witness statements, instructions to counsel, and drafting pleadings and correspondence.

You will liaise directly with clients, manage queries, provide updates, and play a hands-on role in progressing matters to trial.

This is a unique opportunity to build your career within a truly collaborative team working on headline litigation that shapes the law and secures justice for thousands.

We are passionate about what we do, and we are looking for someone who shares our drive, diligence and commitment to excellence in group litigation.

Skills & Qualifications

You are not expected to have prior specialist knowledge of collective actions, or the practice areas referred to above as full training will be provided.

Strong organisation and time management skills are a key element to this role as is the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Excellent client care skills are also a must.

We are looking for a highly ambitious and self-motivated individual who is comfortable working within a team and on their own. The successful candidate would be a forward-thinking individual whose attitude and approach to work is as important as previous experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, ambitious and innovative team.

The PQE mentioned is a guide only and applications are welcomed from anyone with the necessary skills and experience. The successful candidate must be experienced and confident in managing a small caseload through the litigation process.
