At Buttle's Builders Merchants, we're looking for a driven and enthusiastic Assistant Branch Manager to join our team and help lead the daily operations, sales, and customer experience at one of our busy, successful branches.

With over 100 years of service behind us, Buttle's is a trusted independent builders merchant with branches in St Albans and Leighton Buzzard. We pride ourselves on being big enough to deliver, but small enough to care — and we're growing

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the Branch Manager in leading a high-performing team
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our valued trade customers
  • Drive sales growth, improve gross profit, and manage operating costs
  • Oversee and coordinate branch transport and logistics
  • Ensure the branch operates safely and efficiently (you'll be a health & safety champion)
  • Take responsibility as a key holder and act as Branch Manager when required

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in builders merchanting or building materials sales
  • A confident, natural communicator with great sales and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership abilities – you know how to inspire and manage a team
  • A problem-solver with great attention to detail and a hands-on approach
  • Solid understanding of health & safety best practices
  • Passion, ambition, and a desire to grow your career in a leadership role
