Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Coordinator to lead engaging programmes within a charity (Memory Club UK) and drive its future growth. Memory Club is looking to expand its services and reach new members. The Activities Coordinator will be instrumental in achieving these objectives.
We are looking for someone who can create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, choice and enjoyment for all participants. The Activities Coordinator will plan and deliver activities design to enrich the lives of our members with dementia and Alzheimer's.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, a passion for helping people and a knack for coming up with creative activities.
This is a part time role with a fixed term contract of 9 months based on current funding. The intention is for the post duration to be extended beyond this as we grow.
Club sessions are currently held on a Monday afternoon and the applicant must be able to commit to this.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse calendar of activities tailored to members' interests, abilities, and needs.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation.
- Ensure the smooth running of the club sessions.
- Communicate with members and families and medical team about their diagnosis and progression and provide emotional and practical support where appropriate.
- Support, train and supervise the volunteers who assist with activities.
- Establish links with external partners to encourage sharing of resources and knowledge.
- Promote the club and its charitable objectives including keeping social media and the website updated.
Experience
- Fluent in English with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience supporting older adults with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
- Creativity and enthusiasm in planning and delivering engaging activities.
- Awareness of the dementia support groups in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office package.
- Strong record keeping and organisational skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (desirable).
- Previous experience as an Activities Coordinator (desirable).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
