Job Overview
Purpose of the Role
The Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Asset Manager is responsible for the overall condition, performance, and reliability of all heavy mobile equipment across Aggregates R Us sites. The role ensures assets are safe, compliant, and available to meet operational demands, while fostering a proactive culture among operators to maximise equipment life and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Condition & Performance
- Take ownership of the health and performance of all HME (loading shovels, FLTs, excavators, and Trommels).
- Monitor utilisation, efficiency, and rolling costs of equipment on a monthly basis.
Inspections & Preventative Maintenance
- Conduct weekly inspections of all HME and maintain accurate records.
- Identify defects early and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Carry out minor repairs to reduce downtime and escalate major issues where required.
Contractor Liaison & Repairs
- Work with external contractors and service providers to coordinate major repair work.
- Ensure contractors follow Aggregates R Us safety and operational standards.
- Oversee quality of repairs and confirm machines are fit for purpose before returning to service.
Operator Engagement & Training
- Work with machine operators to create a proactive, ownership-driven approach to equipment care.
- Support operators with daily checks, defect reporting, and correct operating practices.
- Provide feedback and guidance to improve operator-machine interaction and reduce avoidable wear.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all HME meets legal, manufacturer, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain inspection logs and ensure records are audit-ready.
- Support incident investigations involving HME.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Recommend upgrades, replacements, or changes in operational practices.
- Support the implementation of new technology or systems for asset management.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge of HME, mechanical systems, and plant operations.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to carry out minor mechanical and electrical repairs.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with operators, managers, and contractors.
- Proactive mindset, with a focus on prevention rather than reaction.
- Strong organisational skills to manage inspection schedules, records, and contractor works.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Performance Indicators
- Equipment availability and uptime percentage.
- Reduction in unplanned breakdowns and repair costs.
- Completion of weekly inspection reports.
- Operator engagement and compliance with daily checks.
- Safety compliance and absence of incidents linked to HME.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £39,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
