Warehouse Operative – Loading

We are looking for reliable, hardworking, and detail-focused Warehouse Operatives to join our team. You will be responsible for loading vans, checking stock, inspecting sofas, recording QC content, maintaining warehouse organisation, and supporting daily operations.

This role requires physical strength, accuracy, teamwork, and excellent timekeeping. You will play a key role in ensuring products are delivered in perfect condition and the warehouse operates smoothly.

Key ResponsibilitiesLoading & Van Preparation

• Load vans safely and correctly with the driver and driver's mate.
• Strap and secure furniture to prevent damage during transit.
• Organise items in the van according to the delivery manifest.
• Ensure all items loaded match the day's delivery sheet.
• Assist drivers with morning loading routines.

Quality Control (QC)

• Inspect sofas and furniture for damage, marks, tears, stitching issues, and defects.
• Complete QC checks using your personal QC stamp for accountability.
• Record QC videos of every sofa and store them correctly in the system.
• Ensure only high-quality items leave the warehouse.
• Report any damaged or faulty stock immediately to management.

Stock Control & Inventory

• Conduct regular stock counts (weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
• Maintain accurate stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Label products correctly with the correct SKU or bin location.
• Support management with stock rotation and organisation.
• Help maintain accurate stock records in warehouse systems.

Goods-In & Goods-Out

• Receive incoming stock from suppliers.
• Check deliveries against purchase orders.
• Inspect incoming items for damage or defects.
• Report shortages, incorrect items, or damages.
• Move new stock to correct warehouse locations.

Warehouse Organisation & Cleanliness

• Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and hazard-free at all times.
• Ensure aisles, fire exits, and walkways remain clear and safe.
• Dispose of cardboard, waste, and packaging materials correctly.
• Keep tools and equipment organised and stored safely.
• Maintain a professional and organised working environment.

Manual Handling

• Lift and move heavy sofas safely using correct techniques.
• Work as part of a 2-man team for large or awkward items.
• Use moving equipment, protective blankets, and straps properly.
• Follow manual handling safety instructions at all times.

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate clearly with drivers, managers, and office staff.
• Report any issues immediately (damage, missing items, hazards).
• Work efficiently as part of a fast-moving warehouse team.
• Follow all instructions from management accurately.

Compliance & Safety

• Follow all health and safety rules and warehouse policies.
• Wear PPE such as safety boots as required.
• Report hazards or unsafe areas.
• Maintain high safety standards during lifting, loading, and moving stock.

Timekeeping & Reliability

• Arrive on time, every day, ready to start work.
• Follow break times and shift schedules.
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability.

Tools & Equipment

• Use hand tools (knives, drills, screwdrivers, etc.) safely and correctly.
• Report any damaged or unsafe tools immediately.
• Keep tools stored safely and organised.

General Support

• Assist drivers with unloading or setup tasks when needed.
• Support managers with additional warehouse tasks.
• Help during busy periods with extra duties such as reorganising stock.
• Assist with showroom stock when required.

Ideal Candidate

• Previous warehouse experience preferred (not essential).
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items safely.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when QC checking sofas.
• Excellent timekeeping and reliability.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Hardworking, respectful, and willing to learn.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £12.21-£14.00 per hour
