This is a replacement post. The Gynaecological Oncology Fellow at King's College Hospital, London, plays a key role in the management of patients with gynaecological cancers, including ovarian, cervical, endometrial, vulval, and rare pelvic malignancies.

This fellowship offers advanced clinical exposure to complex oncological surgery, including open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted procedures, as well as involvement in chemotherapy and radiotherapy planning. The fellow will work within a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specialist nurses, and palliative care teams, contributing to high-quality, patient-centered care.

In addition to surgical training, the fellow will actively participate in cancer MDT meetings, outpatient oncology clinics, colposcopy, and advanced imaging reviews, gaining a holistic understanding of gynaecological cancer management. The role also provides opportunities for clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and medical education, ensuring the fellow contributes to innovation and best practices in gynaecological oncology.

This post is ideal for senior trainees or post-CCT doctors aiming to refine their expertise in gynaecological oncology surgery and cancer care, preparing them for consultant positions in the field.

  • Clinical supervision of other junior medical and non-medical staff.
  • Responsible for carrying out teaching undergraduate student, contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
  • To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.
  • To contribute to the Clinical Audit Programme.
  • To be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene. To undertake annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.
  • Excellence within own department/area of responsibility.
  • To prepare for and undertake the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice and maintaining patient safety.

Advanced Clinical Care: Managing patients with complex gynaecological conditions, including severe endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, fibroids, congenital anomalies, and complex benign pelvic pathology.

Surgical Training: Gaining expertise in advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted gynaecological surgery, including excision of deep endometriosis, myomectomy, hysterectomy, and fertility-sparing procedures.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Working alongside colorectal surgeons, urologists, radiologists, pain specialists, and specialist nurses to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Diagnostic and Outpatient Expertise: Developing skills in advanced imaging interpretation, outpatient hysteroscopy, and multidisciplinary diagnostic pathways.

Research and Innovation: Engaging in clinical research, audits, and service improvement projects to advance the field of complex gynaecology and improve patient outcomes.

Teaching and Training: Contributing to the education of junior doctors, medical students, and allied healthcare professionals through structured teaching and hands-on training.
