The Role
We are seeking an experienced Psychologist with specialist ADHD/ASD expertise to join our senior clinical team in a supervisory capacity. This pivotal role will involve providing clinical supervision to Clinical Associates in Psychology, Assistant Psychologists, and trainees, conducting complex ADHD assessments, and contributing to our multidisciplinary team approach to neurodevelopmental care.
Working remotely, you will combine direct clinical work with leadership responsibilities, supporting the professional development of junior colleagues while maintaining your own clinical caseload. This role offers the opportunity to shape clinical practice, mentor emerging practitioners, and make a meaningful difference to individuals seeking ADHD diagnosis and support.
You will be part of a supportive, professionally supervised team dedicated to delivering gold-standard services in line with NICE guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Practice:
• Conduct comprehensive remote ADHD/ASD assessments for adults, including complex and differential diagnosis cases
• Use validated diagnostic tools
• Complete clinical interviews with patients and collateral informants
• Assess for presentations, differential diagnoses, and comorbidities including complex mental health presentations
• Provide detailed psychological formulations and diagnostic reports with evidence-based recommendations
• Deliver specialist psychological input to multidisciplinary care planning
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in our EPR system
Clinical Supervision and Leadership:
• Provide regular clinical supervision to Trainees, Clinical Associates in Psychology and Assistant Psychologists
• Support supervisees' professional development, reflective practice, and competency development
• Monitor clinical quality and adherence to NICE guidelines across supervised cases
• Offer guidance on complex cases, differential diagnosis, and clinical decision-making
• Support supervisees with challenging clinical scenarios and risk management
• Contribute to the development and delivery of internal training programmes
• Participate in case discussions and multidisciplinary team meetings
Patient Care:
• Deliver patient-centred care with particular sensitivity to neurodivergent communication needs
• Provide post-diagnostic psychoeducation and psychological support
• Work collaboratively with prescribers, assessors, and other clinicians in the MDT
• Implement reasonable adjustments to ensure accessible care for all patients
• Contribute to service user feedback processes and care pathway development
Professional Standards and Service Development:
• Work within NICE guidelines and BPS professional practice guidelines
• Maintain current HCPC registration and engage in continuing professional development
• Engage in your own regular clinical supervision and reflective practice
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities
• Contribute to service development, audit, and evidence-based practice
• Support recruitment, induction, and training of new clinical staff
• Complete mandatory training and maintain supervisory competencies
Remote Working:
• Conduct secure video consultations and supervisions using our digital platforms
• Follow telehealth protocols including identity verification and digital safeguarding
• Maintain information governance and data protection standards
• Work effectively as part of a remote clinical leadership team
Essential Requirements
Qualifications and Registration:
•
Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
• Post-qualification experience working in neurodevelopmental services
Experience and Knowledge:
•
Demonstrated substantial experience in neurodevelopmental conditions
•
Proven experience providing clinical supervision
to qualified and/or trainee psychologists
• In-depth understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders, diagnostic processes, and psychological formulation
• Experience working with neurodiverse populations across the lifespan
• Competence in assessing complex comorbidities, differential diagnoses, and psychological presentations
• Understanding of supervisory models and reflective practice frameworks
Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent clinical assessment, formulation, and diagnostic reasoning skills
• Strong supervisory and mentoring abilities with capacity to support professional development
• Advanced written communication skills for complex report writing
• Ability to conduct effective remote consultations and supervisions via video platform
• Proficient in using electronic patient record systems
• Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills
• Commitment to patient safety, safeguarding, clinical governance, and professional standards
• Leadership qualities and collaborative working approach
Compliance Requirements:
• Enhanced DBS check with barred list (completed prior to commencement)
• Right to work in the UK
• Satisfactory references from most recent employer
• Professional indemnity insurance (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable Requirements
• Additional specialist training in ADHD assessment (e.g., UKAAN, ADDISS, or equivalent)
• Experience using structured diagnostic tools (DIVA-5, ASRS, Conners, CAARS)
• Experience in telehealth or remote clinical service delivery and remote supervision
• Knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and overlapping neurodevelopmental presentations
• Experience working with complex cases including comorbid personality difficulties, trauma, or substance misuse
• Training in specific therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, or ADHD-specific interventions)
• Experience in service development, clinical leadership, or management
• Previous involvement in training delivery, teaching, or presentations
• Lived experience of ADHD or neurodivergence (valued but not required)
