What's the opportunity?We're looking for an experienced and passionate Programme Leader to join our Higher Education Services team. Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the Programme Leader plays a key role in leading the development and delivery of high-quality programmes that result in strong learner outcomes. You'll be responsible for curriculum design, academic quality assurance, accreditation processes, and research-informed teaching.
As a subject and module lead, you'll oversee academic teams, ensure programme consistency, and support student progression across cohorts. You'll work closely with academic leadership to align teaching delivery and learning outcomes with FutureLearn's strategic goals, policies, and platform standards.

What does success look like?- Deliver engaging and impactful learning experiences, driving strong outcomes across your programmes.
- Design and review curriculum content that is digitally delivered, research-informed, and aligned to graduate employment skills.
- Oversee and support module leaders and subject teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Lead on programme quality assurance processes including monitoring reviews, audits, assessment design and delivery.
- Use learner analytics and digital platforms to track progress and ensure interventions are in place to support student success.
- Develop new module content, support course proposals, and contribute to FutureLearn's content innovation pipeline.
- Collaborate with external networks, industry partners and academic bodies to enhance programme relevance and reach.
- Line manage academic staff, deliver observations, and contribute to professional development planning.
- Champion inclusivity and accessibility in curriculum and delivery, responding to learner diversity and needs.
- Participate in internal committees, academic working groups, and represent FutureLearn externally where required.
- Contribute to research and scholarship, as well as support knowledge transfer and innovation initiatives across the organisation.
Essential:
- A PhD or significant industry experience in a relevant subject area.
- Experience of teaching in UK Higher Education, with a strong track record in subject delivery and curriculum development.
- Experience of managing academic teams and leading modules or programmes.
- Eligibility for or current Fellowship of AdvanceHE.
- Excellent digital literacy and confidence using online learning technologies.
- Passion for student success and a commitment to inclusive, engaging education.
- Strong communication, organisational and team leadership skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of online or blended learning delivery.
- Supervision experience with research projects or dissertations.
- Industry experience relevant to your subject area.
- Experience using Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and learning analytics platforms.
