Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background to contribute to the smooth operation of our garage, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Diagnose faults accurately using mechanical knowledge and diagnostic tools
- Repair or replace faulty components using hand tools and power tools
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with other team members to optimise maintenance procedures and minimise downtime
- Carry out routine servicing and scheduled maintenance on a variety of vehicles
- Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and manual testing methods
- Complete general mechanical repairs, including brakes, suspension, clutches, exhausts, and steering components
- Assist with MOT preparation, rectification work, and ensure vehicles meet required standards
- Perform welding and fabrication when required
- Fit and balance tyres, carry out puncture repairs
- Work on hybrid vehicles and follow safe procedures for high-voltage systems
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and identify potential issues
- Keep accurate records of work carried out and parts used
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop space
- Communicate professionally with customers, explaining findings and repair recommendations
Requirements
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be physically fit, capable of lifting heavy parts, and working in various environments
- Previous experience as a mechanic/technician in a workshop environment
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent qualification) preferred
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Professional attitude and attention to detail
